Speaker Bio

Laura Hedgecock is an author, storyteller, speaker, and Geneablogger obsessed with family history and passionate about helping others tell their personal and family stories. Her book, MEMORIES OF ME: A COMPLETE GUIDE TO TELLING AND SHARING THE STORIES OF YOUR LIFE guides and empowers memory collectors and family storytellers with down-to-earth, practical storytelling advice and creative ideas for preserving and sharing personal and family stories.

Her upcoming book, BLOGGING FOR FAMILY HISTORY: HOW TO DECIDE, LAUNCH A BLOGSITE AND MAKE IT SUCCESSFUL, guides family historians as they choose website-building platforms through to making their blog or website shine.
Ms. Hedgecock’s website TreasureChestofMemories.com is full of family history and storytelling resources and her blog (TreasureChestofMemories.com/blog) is all about preserving and sharing memories and stories. In addition, Ms. Hedgecock serves as a webmaster for various websites, is a co-founder and contributing blogger at TheRoadLessWritten.com, a writers’ exchange site, and frequently guest-posts at other genealogy sites.

She enjoys speaking at workshops, genealogy events, and on the radio, spreading the message that personal and family narratives connect loved ones with their family and ancestry. She has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, and Chicago Tribune,Genealogy Gems and Dear Mrytle. (See published clips at LauraHedgecock.com/media-kit.)

When she’s not writing or playing webmaster, Ms. Hedgecock enjoys spending time with her husband and two soon-to-be-adult sons, (and her Springer Spaniel), playing soccer, nature photography, and finding her roots—which might explain her messy house.
