From Google searches, to photo scanning, to online databases nearly all the Genealogy data you collect each day is now digital. The challenge becomes: How do you store, backup and preserve all the data you collect? Storing your data may seem easy - you simply hit the save button, but where is your data stored: on your computer or an external hard drive or online or all three? Do you have a backup copy or two? Where are they? How do backup copies get created? Finally, where will your data be in one year, or five years or ten? Will you still be able to read? We'll look at the challenges and solutions of how you can gain control over your digital data. We will look at the many places your data could be stored and how you can keep it backed up both locally and off site. Finally, we'll discuss practical ways you can preserve your data for the long-term.
