RT2656 - Writing an Engaging Family History

Session Description

This presentation addresses the question many writers of genealogies and family histories ask: How can I make my work more interesting to my readers? Learn how to move beyond the basics of birth, death, and marriage dates to incorporate details that give life to your ancestors. We’ll look at how to write an engaging family history by incorporating family stories, weaving in geographic and historical context, identifying and elaborating on themes, and selecting appropriate illustrations. You’ll see examples of where and how to incorporate narrative, learn where to find interesting images to accompany your text, and get basic tips on how to write more engagingly.
