GS2261-F - Digital Public Library of America—Family History Resource (F)

Session Description

The Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) brings together the riches of America’s libraries, archives, museums, and historical societies and makes them available for use through an open and freely accessible web portal. Over eleven million items including Bible records, birth and death certificates, city directories, photographs, oral histories, books, manuscripts, and more, from institutions of all sizes throughout the US, are searchable through the DPLA’s single interface. Together, these resources help to tell unique and varied stories of the people who have lived and events that have taken place in cities and states across the nation. This presentation will describe the DPLA, introduce the web portal, and show how the powerful API platform are invaluable resources for the discovery of genealogical materials for researchers with all levels of experience.

This class is also taught on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
