RT2111 - Using DNA Testing To Solve Genealogical Questions

Session Description

Autosomal DNA tests can help you verify your family tree and also allow you to discover new ancestors. This presentation will provide multiple examples of how autosomal DNA testing was used to tackle genealogical research puzzles that could not be solved using traditional genealogical research. Some of the case studies will demonstrate how autosomal testing can reliably establish close genealogical relationships while other examples will describe how genealogical relationships 5 or more generations back in time were confirmed. The limitations of autosomal testing for genealogical purposes will also be explained. It would be best if attendees have taken at least one autosomal DNA test such as 23andMe’s test, Family Tree DNA’s Family Finder, or Ancestry.com’s AncestryDNA test prior to this presentation.
