RT2062 - Non-Scientist’s Intro to Genetic Genealogy & DNA

Session Description

Are you wondering what genetic genealogy is and what it can possibly do for your genealogical research? Do you need the Kindergarten Reader’s Digest version? This presentation covers the basics of inheritance and the 4 kinds of DNA genealogists use in a simple understandable way. Learn about the difference between your genealogical family tree and your genetic family tree. Discover how to develop a testing plan to answer your pressing genealogical questions, identify whom in your family to test to potentially answer that question and which of the 4 kinds of DNA to test. Also, discover how to go about identifying the most recent common ancestor you have with your matches. An overview of the “Big 3” testing companies and costs will also be presented.
