There are over 100 million unique Irish genealogical records at findmypast.com, by far the largest collection anywhere online. This lecture aims to explain what records are on the site, as well as how to use them. Irish records are notoriously complex, but digitization has changed this forever. There has been a digital revolution in Ireland, as whole new record series are developed for use, like court records, land records, prison records and of course church and civil records. What do the records tell you, how can you piece together the evidence you need to build your family history? Brian will talk through the many collections available online, focusing on those records which are most valuable for Irish research. Brian will explain why Irish genealogy is no longer an impossible task.
