RT1516 - Discover your Swedish Roots in Color Using ArkivDigital

Session Description

ArkivDigital is the premier online archive for Swedish research. Records available in ArkivDigital include the Swedish church books, estate inventories, military, ship manifests, tax registers, prison records and much more. The objective of the class will be to demonstrate to the participants the wide range of records in ArkivDigital that can help the Swedish researcher gain a deep understanding of one’s ancestor’s life. The presentation will include a short case history and examples showing search strategies and the records. One case study will be used to show how to search for the person’s birth record, household examination record (similar to a yearly census), his military records and emigration records. New searching functions including name-searching along with other new product features will be demonstrated in the presentation as well as transcription and translation tools.
